Reliver Justin Miller just told me he will have arthroscopic surgery on his pitching elbow Monday to clean up bone spurs. The free agent expects to be 100 percent healthy by spring training and wants to return to the Giants. He was a valuable long man this year and made the decision on surgery after playing catch on successive days thus week.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow, what a Ride!"
