If he suspects Molina already has a multi-year offer, wouldn't it be more of a reason to offer arbitration and get draft compensation?
This is a weak FA year, and Molina is the best catcher available. There's a pretty good chance he signs somewhere else. And since Sabean doesn't think Posey is ready to start, what do they have to lose by offering Molina arbitration?
