Sabean brings up a good point that Posey has so little catching experience compared to other players who had a lot more before getting to the big leagues. However, the Orioles had a hot catching prospect named Matt Wieters, who spent 1 season in A Ball, and 39 games between AA and AAA before getting called up to split time with Greg Zaun. It seems rare though to see a catcher in the majors with so little experience.
