Just look at what below avg catchers have been signing for.

LaRoche wants a three-year, $31.5 million deal, and now Damon(see below)

I don't blame Sabean for a second if he doesn't sign a good free agent. I would sooner not sign anyone if it means not getting stuck with another Rowand contract.

Scott Boras, Damon's agent, told the Yankees not to bother unless the offer started at a base of three years and $13 million annually. That's simply not going to happen; the Bronx Bombers were eyeing a two-year, $16 million deal. Don't read too much into this: absolutely no team will commit a three-year, $39 million outlay to Damon. It's all posturing, but it will likely land Damon with another team.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow, what a Ride!"
