I don't blame Sabean for a second if he doesn't sign a good free agent. I would sooner not sign anyone if it means not getting stuck with another Rowand contract.

Scott Boras, Damon's agent, told the Yankees not to bother unless the offer started at a base of three years and $13 million annually. That's simply not going to happen; the Bronx Bombers were eyeing a two-year, $16 million deal. Don't read too much into this: absolutely no team will commit a three-year, $39 million outlay to Damon. It's all posturing, but it will likely land Damon with another team.
