I doubt that anyone will pay LaRoche that amount, but teams tend to overpay for good free agents anyway. Maybe they find a bargain later on, (Ausmus? Blalock?). I think they better start spending on players wisely, or try to get out of bad contracts. Easier said then done. They only have the #13 highest payroll in the league according to an article I read, so contracts like Rowand and of course Zito could really hamstring them in the future.
