in hindsight, it would have been nice to have Alderson available to move in a deal for Uggla. I think we are going to regret not making a play for him this year while his value was a bit depressed. my sense is that management felt obligated to resign Sanchez, otherwise that original deal looks even worse.

personally, I'm much more concerned with bumgarner than posey. i'd be interested in limiting the innings of a 19 year old pitcher coming off of a season where he threw more innings than ever before and suffered a significant drop in velocity. i think the notion that they asked him to do this intentionally is nonsense. you don't draft a guy in the top 10 for his dynamite arm and then ask him to make himself ordinary before he's even established himself at this level. i can recall reading quotes from him at the end of last year that even he didn't know how to account for the difference in fastball.
