Monday's Giants lineup plus roster move

You think the Giants could've used someone to pinch-run for Travis Ishikawa or pinch-hit for Eli Whiteside yesterday? Yeah. So does the front office. The Giants finally pared back to 12 pitchers, optioning right-hander Joe Martinez to Triple-A Fresno and recalling utilityman Eugenio Velez.

Velez was hitting .311 (68 for 219) with 10 doubles, four triples and three home runs in 58 games with the Grizz.

The Giants are coming off a good series against the Mets, yesterday's Cuzzifying notwithstanding. But it's really on now. The Giants are 1-5 against the Dodgers and 9-20 against the NL West. That absolutely has to change for the Lads to have any shot at playing meaningful games in September and beyond.

Manny Ramirez isn't in there for the Dodgers. Not sure if it's a bad quad or if they needed him to do another publicity junket for the Predator movie.
