to say nothing about the importance of each player to their team. Yes, Podsednik has 30 steals (caught 12 times, btw) and a higher batting average. That doesn't make him a better player.

Check the OPS and the clutch stats. Torres has an OPS of 1.106 in Late & Close ABs, hitting almost .400. And he has an OPS of 1.037 with men on base.
