and didn't win a championship. Post-Bonds, things have not been so good. He seems to have learned, but those years where he was giving away first round picks to sign crappy players really put the team in a hole that has taken a while to climb out of.

Also, that "if we had signed Vlad we wouldn't have been able to sign crappy players A through F" statement was legendarily bad.
