All that really matters is having a murderous row that can't be pitched around. Of course you need professional hitters that put pressure on the pitcher but that is a requirement for good offense, not strategy.

This is why you don't really worry about putting good hitters in fron of the pitcher, because they would just walk your 7th and 8th hitter to get to the pitcher and it would rarely backfire.
