it explains the loss of velocity, movement, and location. It also makes sense because everyone has always said that with a windup that complicated, it's really easy for something to get mistimed.
I think all of this is compounded by what's going through Timmy's head. No doubt that's part of it. But the kid still has great stuff. He pitched fantastically in the first inning of that last game, but then just fell apart.
I think the change in pitch types is him noticing the loss of velocity and listening to all the comments about how good his changeup is.

again, I think his mechanics are out of whack... simplest and most likely explanation, IMO...
