Again, I understand why someone would want to trade Timmy but the timing just doesn't add up.
Outside of Surkamp (of whom I have serious doubts), the farm is tapped in terms of replacements. Free agency is a possibility but you're suggesting we use the money meant for Timmy to be spent on a superstar hitter. So the best we could hope for is a bottom dollar deal on a good player having a string of shitty years (Brad Penny, Aubrey Huff). More probable? Todd Wellemeyer. The cherry on top is Zito bumps up to the 4th spot by default. I cringe just thinking about that.
While it just may well come down to trading Lincecum, I'd much rather wait for the situation to develop to see if any of our prospects step up. Time is a luxury the Giants currently have that they should not easily give up.

I can't imagine the haul to be substantially higher now as opposed to next off-season or trade deadline assuming we're out of the pennant race
